Lenobia Vow A House of Night Novella House of Night Novellas P C Cast Kristin Cast Books

This novella made Lenobia, a character that doesn't get much air time until later in the House of Night series, a real person. Describing her life before she was Marked, the story takes the reader from a hard life in France to a harder life in America. Love is a redeeming theme throughout and the information learned about Lenobia is important to the House of Night storyline progression. I would recommend this book to anyone who is planning to read the House of Night series from start to finish. It is best to read this novella after the book Destined.

Lenobia Vow A House of Night Novella House of Night Novellas P C Cast Kristin Cast Books Reviews

Want to read a warm fuzzy book that will make you feel all warm and cozy inside? Turn away now this one is a real tear jerker. I loved this book but cried after finishing for about fifteen minutes. Why would I want to read this if it will make me cry you may ask? Your answer is that this is a very well written novella that, out of respect of the talent of the authors should be read. The characters are passionate and accurate according to the time period in which the book was placed.
Hope this helps!
If you are already a fan of the House of Night series then you know just how amazing these authors are and have an idea of how good this novella is. This novella most assuredly allows readers a better understanding and a richer historical interpretation of the character Lenobia. I would definitely recommend.
The books never disappoint they are the series that I love the most. This book was everything it should be giving a glimpse of the lives of the other professor how they came to be a part of the house of night. Reading these novellas has me going back to 're read all the books with a better understanding that they to have story's to tell and how it has not only been a long journey for Zoie Redbird but it was also along journey for the others that are now vampires.
A very light read. Fun, intriguing, and quite catching as all House of Night novels are. Yet I wasn't touched by it. I didn't like Lenobia at all. I like her better in the other novels where she's older. And though I did know there would be a tragedy, how it was done seemed a bit overkill. Lenobia's vow would have carried more weight later on if she would have at least spent some time together with Martin. But they don't. Now I just want to slap her by how she acted in Destined and tell her to move on already, and let that sweet cowboy take her for a ride ;)
I'm a little disappointed by the cost of the House of Night novellas, but I knew what I was getting into when I paid it. These authors do an incredible job of fleshing out characters and making you understand the choices they have made with their lives. In this one, you follow Lenobia as she was when she was Zoey's age, dealing with vampirism and what it means for her. She struggles with forbidden loves and overwhelming loss. Definitely well-written, and although I am unhappy by how much the publisher sets the prices for the novellas, I do not regret the purchase. It was worth the money.
It's always hard to read a story knowing that it is going to have a sad ending. If you have read the House of Night books, you know that Lenobia's story does not end well. Add to that the fact that the House of Night books have the tendency to make bad guys out of church leaders, and you have a novella that I kind of struggled with.

It bothers me that the nuns in these books are always shown as being loving and caring, good people, but the men in church are all terrible. I get the whole women empowerment thing. I do. But turning all male authority figures into raging, egomaniacal villains is not the way to do it.

Anyway, this novella was okay. It had its high points and we do understand a few of Lenobia's reactions to things that happened in the series a little better (like why she freaked out about the Percheron and where the gris gris came from), but for the most part, this didn't really add anything.
Truly enjoyed reading about Lenobia leading up to the events before she was marked as a fledgling vampire. At her mother's insistence she takes the identity of her half sister before others know of her sister's death. Traveling by boat to New Orleans from France, she is planning to follow through on an arranged marriage to a complete stranger. While traveling she meets her soul mate who is bi-racial. Society at that time would frown on such a union but the attraction is very strong. Meanwhile, the local bishop has been forced by the church to relocate to New Orleans and is on the same boat. The rumors of the bishop having strange powers prove to be true. He has lusted after Lenobia for some time (part of the reason her mother also insisted on her taking a new identity and going on this trip). Lenobia is shocked to discover the bishop is on the same journey and successfully stays away from him until one day letting her guard down and runs into the bishop by accident. He realizes who she is and plots to have her for himself. Before he can fully put his plan into place, Lenobia is marked making her life with her soul mate a possibility. However the bishop cannot stand to lose his desire and will pay the ultimate price. Good read and helps put the House of Night series in a new prospective from the backstories of the main characters.
